How To Say "I LOVE YOU, SELF" Passionately
Nah! This is not a sexy thingy post... or, perhaps it is—because passionately loving oneself can indeed be sexy, right? We are all aware of the importance of self-love, emphasizing its vital role as we navigate the hustle and bustle of life and the chaos caused by uncontrollable circumstances. Taking care of ourselves is essential in order to effectively care for our loved ones; unfortunately, we often neglect our own needs. Trust me, I have experienced this myself—striving to attend to everything and everyone I cherish, ultimately losing sight of my own well-being.
Sharing this blog has been one of my goals. My struggles are a part of what compels me to share my experiences, as they may resonate with those who take the time to read and reflect. Though I have always known the concept of self-love, instilled in me since childhood, the challenge remains: how do we embrace it passionately? And why is it essential to do so with fervor?
What Is Self-Love?
Self-love is a state of holding a positive regard for oneself, characterized by appreciation, affection, and understanding of one’s worth. This involves recognizing not only one's strengths and accomplishments but also accepting weaknesses without harsh self-judgment. It is closely tied to self-esteem and self-compassion, which entails treating oneself with kindness, especially during moments of failure or difficulty (SOURCE: betterup.com and bbfoundation.org).
How to Enhance Self-Love with Passion
Passion is a powerful and compelling emotion that drives individuals to engage in activities or pursue goals with intense enthusiasm and dedication. While it is often associated with love and desire, passion encompasses a broader range of emotions, including grit and zeal for various pursuits.
In our ever-changing world, it can be challenging to consistently recognize our self-worth, especially during tough times. However, enhancing self-love is crucial for our overall well-being. It is not selfishness; rather, practicing self-love allows us to love others deeply and authentically. Here are a few ways to cultivate self-love with passion:
1. Avoid Negative Self-Talk in the Morning.
While it may be easy to affirm oneself during peak moments, it becomes challenging during struggles. Begin each day with a prayer, pouring out your worries and seeking divine assistance. If tears come, allow them, but do not dwell on them so long that you miss the day ahead. When you look in the mirror, affirm: "You are strong because God is always with you." Prayer is a powerful tool that reminds us of the countless ways we are loved.
2. Practice Deep Breathing
Take time to breathe deeply throughout your day, especially during overwhelming moments. Deep breathing can significantly influence emotional and physiological responses by activating the autonomic nervous system. This simple yet powerful practice can help manage stress, promote relaxation, and enhance mental clarity, allowing you to feel more composed and effective.
3. Engage in Joyful Activities
Spend time doing what brings you joy—whether it's a long hug from a loved one, a walk in nature, journaling, or singing. On my sad days, for instance, I find solace in singing, regardless of my busy schedule. Engaging in soothing activities can redirect your mind towards positive thoughts.
4. Cultivate a Grateful and Analytical Mindset
Strive to see the bright side while acknowledging challenges. Many people fall into the trap of ignoring difficulties to maintain a "positive mindset." True positivity involves recognizing problems but also understanding that solutions exist and can be discovered over time. Avoid the pitfalls of toxic positivity.
5. Allow Yourself to Grieve Permit yourself to feel sadness when needed.
Denying grief can lead to increased feelings of isolation and helplessness. Unresolved grief may contribute to more profound issues, such as anxiety and depression, by preventing healthy emotional processing (SOURCE: ecorial.org; magazine.hms.harvard.edu).
6. Avoid Comparisons with Others
Always remember that each individual is unique, with their own set of ups and downs. People often showcase their achievements, disregarding the struggles behind them. Remember, nobody achieves success overnight.
7. Enhance Your Assets Rather Than Envy
Others
Oftentimes, we fail to nurture our strengths while focusing on what others have. The saying "the grass is greener on the other side" holds some truth, but we neglect to "water our own grass." Recognize that growth requires care and appreciation. When feeling disappointed by perceived delays in success, redirect your energy towards fulfilling your personal goals.
8. Learn to say "NO"
Learn to say no assertively. This will give you the priviledge to function better on your daily tasks and prevent you from feeling overwhlmed.
9. Pray before bed time ALWAYS
Always start and end your day with a prayer. Prayers soothes the mind and soul. It is like a meditation acting as a potent therapy for our well being. Never forget that the God that has give us life is the same God that will give everything we need and aspire for in life. And if there are days that He does not give us our heart's desires, ACCEPT WITH A HEART THAT KNOWS THAT HE IS THE ONLY ONE WHO IS AWARE OF WHAT IS BEST FOR US. Let go and let God.
These are merely a few of the countless ways we can practice passionate self-love. To love oneself with passion means to commit to this practice amid life's chaos. Maintaining resilience and understanding our real worth is a powerful journey. Ultimately, the drive for passionate self-love stems from our love for those who cherish us. Always remember to love yourself passionately; failing to do so is an insult to those who care for you the most. Have a joyful life, say "I love you, self" passionately and feel and see the big diffrence in your existence.
